Chasing the Sun

Trail Running Training Plans

Train for this race the way it was meant to be run.

Why Chasing the Sun?

I’m honestly still kind of blown away by this…because I didn’t just show up to coach this trail race, I helped from the beginning. From how the course flows to how the day actually feels out there, I’ve been thinking about the rhythm of this race since it was just an idea.

Chasing the Sun isn’t your typical event. You’re not just running a distance—you’re running time and it can be solo or as a team! Whether it’s 3 hours, 6 hours, or going all in from dusk to dawn, this race is about finding your rhythm, managing your effort, and staying in it as the sun moves across the sky (and ends with what I hope is an epic sunset).

And because I know this race inside and out, I built training plans that match it so you don’t have to guess your way through it.

What about these training plans for trail runners?

These are structured, time-based training plans built specifically for Chasing the Sun.

You’ll train using effort (not pace), focus on time on feet, and build the kind of consistency that actually holds up on race day. Each plan includes a full progression leading into race day, plus guidance along the way so you know what you’re doing and why you’re doing it.

You’re not just getting a plan—you’re getting coached through the process.

Here’s what you get!

  • Time-based training plan (no pace chasing)

  • 3–5 days of running per week with flexibility built in

  • Strength training guidance

  • Clear “key runs” so you know what actually matters

  • Emails before and throughout training, such as:

    • How to train by effort (RPE)

    • What to do if you miss runs, travel, or get sick

    • Fueling, long runs, and race prep

  • Race-specific insight from someone who helped design the event

All plans follow the same coaching approach, just scaled to your race.

Want more support?

These plans are self-guided—but if you want a little extra help, you’ve got options:

  • Kickoff Call (45 min) – $85
→ Walk through your plan, schedule, and how to make it work for your life

  • Pre-Race Strategy Call (30 min) – $65
→ Dial in pacing, fueling, and race-day execution

  • 1:1 Support Bundle – $135

→ Kickoff call + pre-race call

You’ll have the option to add these after purchase.

These are self-guided plans designed to give you structure without overwhelm.

If you want ongoing feedback, that’s what 1:1 coaching is for, but for some trail runners, this is exactly what they need to show up ready on race day.
